Julie Varholdt is an energetic entertainer who blends fun and laughter into whatever she does. Julie started clowning in 1992 in the Phoenix Arizona area, and has since traveled the world teaching and sharing her art with people everywhere. She is a third generation clown that began with her grandfather clowning in the small town of Douglas Arizona in the 1940's and 1950's. Her father used to sometimes accompany her grandfather at his many events and parades. Once Julie came along and discovered clowning, she too was hooked! Julie got her start with a local clown Alley called the Luv Clowns of Arizona in 1992. She is currently the president for the Luv Clowns of Arizona and has held all offices at one point or another. From 1999 to 2002 she was an Arizona Roster Artists with the Arizona Commission on the Arts. And currently travels and entertains all over Arizona performing for various schools and libraries. Julie was the first ever Alley Director for World Clown Association (WCA) from 2001 to 2006. And was then elected Vice President for the WCA from 2006 to 2008. In 2009 she won the All Around Clown award from WCA. In 2010 she made history when she won both the Clown of the Year Award from the WCA and Best in Clown from Clowns of America International. Julie wrote for the WCA magazine Clowning Around from 2001 to 2012. She is currently a contributing writer for the COAI magazine The New Calliope. She was elected to the position of Alley/Regional Support Director for COAI from 2014 to 2016. And was also the Executive Vice Presidentfor Clowns of America International from 2016 to 2018. She was a proud member of David Bartletts elite Red Nose Round Table group for several years. A group of 21 entertainers from around the US and Canada that met once a year for their Round Table meetings and lectures at different locations throughout the USA. This group helped mold her forever as an entertainer and a person. She has now formed her own all women's Red Nose Roundtable with 9 amazingly talented women from around the US. Over the years she has won many awards in her amazing clown career. In 2000 she was awarded the Clown of the Year award from her Luv Clown Alley peers. She has also won many gold, silver, and bronze medals (26) while competing at the Clown Conventions around the United States in costuming, makeup, skits and face painting and parade. One of Julie's passions is traveling around the USA and abroad performing and teaching at clown schools and conventions, passing on the art of clowning to young and old alike. Traveling to places like China, India, England, Spain, Puerto Rico, Florida, Texas, Tennessee, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and MANY MORE amazing places. She is also a published author of "Entertainers Record Keeper", and she also has several educational DVD's and CD's on the art of clowning..
